No pictures yet, but I promise there will be some tomorrow night - Darrin, Vicki, Mary, the cats................
Today started early, each in our own time getting ready for church. We were greeted with COFFEE, oatmeal in the crock pot with all imaginable toppings. YUMO! And, we started out for church in Darrin and Vicki's van at 7:30. They attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta so it is a bit of a drive. Trinity is a large church, beautiful and friendly. There was a display of the original church on the wall in the entry that was very interesting. It was quilt Sunday, so all of the pews had quilts on them. That of course, like at St Mark, Lacey, was beautiful. We seated ourselves quite close to the front. It was a terrific service with a very good sermon about sharing what we have... actually I got that from the children's sermon. I'm always so grateful for children's sermons. Earla's favorite part of the service was that the cantor was a teenage boy who also sang in the choir along with his dad. My favorite part of the service was that the prayer petitions were read by various members of the congregation from where they were standing and as their heart told them to - nothing preplanned. We enjoyed a fellowship after church while Darrin taught Sunday School.
After church, we went to a local grocery store with an Amish store in it. Each of us that was from out of town found a little something in the Amish store. Vicki bought bread, and we headed back to Darrin and Vicki's. On the way, we saw a sign for a garage sale, so we dropped Vicki off and went back. It was not too impressive, but we walked through.
By the time we returned to the house, lunch was ready. We had more of the strawberry salad, hot roast beef sandwiches on onion rolls, and chips and dip. And, of course, there was desert!! ---- rhubarb custard pie... who could refuse that? It was yummy to the tummy.
The afternoon was quite lazy. Earla and I each took a nap. We watched a little football, knitted or crocheted, talked, and generally relaxed.
Dinner was at 7. We had homemade Wisconsin chili soup and Vicki's special cornbread... oh so good... Then we played two strenuous games of Scrabble, both of which I must confess --- Earla won. This is a challenge!
Now we are all wandering off to bed after a full and truly wonderful day.
Tomorrow, we are off to Milwaukee.
